WWE Network To Launch Next Week in China

New updates reveal that WWE network will be launching soon in China. According to reports, WWE and PPTV announced earlier today that WWE Network will now be available in China. This is an amazing news for WWE fans as this is the first time the network services will be available in the country. The new deals have now made the number of countries with access to WWE network a total 180.

“PPTV is a tremendous partner and has been key in helping us engage with WWE fans in China and further establishing our brand in this important market. With this launch, WWE Network is now available in every market, reaching more than 180 countries around the world, delivering all our premium live events and an archive of action-packed, family-friendly entertainment that has thrilled WWE audiences for years,” WWE’s Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer, Michelle Wilson said.

The network will launch exclusively on PPTV on Friday, August 18. According to a report on WWE website, it will launch as a subscription video-on-demand service that features the entire WWE live pay-per-view events, including SummerSlam and WrestleMania among others.

That said, the new report that Vince McMahon’s professional wrestling organization has signed a deal with Suning’s PPTV to launch the WWE Network in China is said to be based on an announcement by both parties. It is reported by The Hollywood Reporter that PPTV has China’s rights to the English Premier League and UFC. It has now agreed to include WWE Network’s contents on its digital platform.

PPTV intends to offer Chinese viewers an unprecedented chance to see professional wrestling on their mobile, tablets and smart TVs. Chinese fans are especially overjoyed because of the fact that Summerslam 2017 is scheduled to air few days after the launch of the network in China. Summerslam is expected to broadcast live coupled with Mandarin commentary on Aug. 21, by 7 a.m. Beijing time.

Meanwhile, this is not the first deal between Suning and WWE network, as it is reported that both parties entered into a deal to broadcast live the weekly and Smackdown and Raw programs on PPTV along with Mandarin commentary in 2016. Earlier this year, sunning offered Wrestlemania 33 on its platform as a pay-per-view event. Reports have it that it was the first time WWE’s biggest event received a live broadcast in China.

The new deal will now allow Chinese WWE fans to have access to a wider range of the network’s content including but not limited to Total Divas 205 Live, and NXT. It is reported that the PPTV platform plans to expand WWE’s video-on-demand library by adding over 1,000 hours of content within the next 12 months.
